Dear friends of Bursagaz,
Spring is back in our beautiful city and itbrings the latest edition of our Mavi Yeşil magazine with it.This spring saw an historical event for Bursagaz. At the end of February, we exceeded the magical 1.000.000 subscriberlimit. Bursagaz is now one of only threegas distribution companies in Turkey – theother two being in Istanbul and Ankara– with a six-digit subscriber number. Mypersonal thanks goes to all employees of Bursagaz since its foundation in 1992 who have been contributing to this great success. In this edition of our magazine, we willvisit again famous places in the region, inTurkey and in the world. Some of themare listed already as World Heritage sitesothers are in the application process.
The town of Iznik belongs to the secondgroup. Being already on Turkey’s tentative list at UNESCO, it will just be a questionof time until full recognition as a world heritage. As a frequent visitor to Iznik
– Bursagaz distributes gas in Iznik since 2016 – I always enjoy the presence of Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman culture in peaceful harmony. A great location for a weekend trip and whilethere do not forget to take one of the world famous ceramics with you. They makegreat gifts. A lot younger than Iznik but maybe one ofthe most famous world heritage locations is Machu Picchu in Peru. Constructed in the fifteenth century its existence wasforgotten until the beginning of the 20th century. In the Travellers’ Choice Awards 2016, it was ranked number one of the Top 25 historical monuments worldwide.Definitively worth a visit if you do notmind the altitude.
Maybe not as famous as a traveler’sdestination, but when it comes to historical relevance, Göbekli Tepe cannot be ranked high enough. It opens a window to the beginning of what we call civilization. The discovery of Göbekli Tepe actually changed our perception of how civilization once developed. Samples of Einkorn were found during the excavations in Göbekli Tepe. We know Einkorn as the ancestor of all the modern wheat crops used today. How to use it in today’s cuisine is described in our health section together with some recipes for you.
After all these historical scenes, we wouldlike to take your attention to importantissues for our city Bursa. In our EnergeticConversations part, we have the great pleasure to talk to Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş. Hecontinues his duty following the election and we will hear the projects related to management and development of Bursafrom Mr. Aktaş.
I am sure you will enjoy our spring editionof Mavi Yeşil and it will provide you withsome ideas of how to spend some of your free time while traveling or in the kitchen.
